The Esmd-Ext-AttachmentControlNumber is a custom esMD FHIR resource that is used to transmit the Attachment Control Number (ACN). The ACN is a unique identifier which is received as part of an X12N 278 5010 request and stored in the esMD database where it is used to track and manage specific attachments or documents submitted as supporting documentation received using the esMD FHIR workflow.
