The Esmd-Ext-AuthorOrg is a custom esMD FHIR resource that is used to represent the National Provider Identifier (NPI) when an organization (institution) is the author of a clinical document that is transmitted using the esMD System.

The Esmd-Ext-AuthorOrg resource represents document submission metadata (aka submission set metadata). As such, it will be included in the Esmd-ListSubmissionSet resource with other document submission metadata when a clinical document is transmitted via the esMD System.
